Why this new project?
Why another startup?
Why a tool with countless alternatives already on the market?
Why a generalist solution when the trend is toward hyper-specialization?
Why another blog when the internet is flooded with them?
The list goes on.
First, because we believe in it. That was Lukas's (my co-founder) condition when he pitched me the idea. They say “execution is more important than the idea itself”, so there was no reason to snuff out the flame and halt the madness. Our past experiences have shown us that we enjoy creating together and bringing an idea to life. So, why not embrace the madness and naivety needed to see what the gods of entrepreneurship have in store for those who persevere?
This isn't our first venture, either individually or collectively. We previously founded a company (Payhouse). It was super-niche and probably less exciting than many Netflix series, but all the data pointed to what seemed to be a good potential. At the end and for various reasons, we didn’t get the results we hoped for, and we had to move on.
Months passed, dozens of entrepreneurial ideas were tossed around, and we landed on the idea for TARS. Lukas’s pitch was strong: create the Ryanair of business management apps. Something ridiculously affordable, simple, beautiful, and effective. After a quick brainstorm and a few screening questions, I was on board. Simple + beautiful + effective → I was sold ❤️ At a ridiculously low price → ❤️❤️ I got hooked.
Of course, we thought about the many entrepreneurial success stories that started with offering unbeatable prices:
The idea of creating a universal, generalist solution that could work for all kinds of businesses across numerous verticals was incredibly appealing. A big challenge, but likely the most fertile ground for creating an exceedingly simple product.
On top of all the excitement, the idea seemed to be a good opportunity to combine entrepreneurship, humor, and boldness. A platform for self-deprecating humor, shedding light on the entrepreneurial world with a sarcastic edge — without taking ourselves too seriously, but being very serious about execution.
P.S. The blog idea isn't groundbreaking. It's just a way to use the pre-launch period to improve our website’s search engine ranking. If you enjoy reading it -> 🫶🏼.
Tars it up!
